“I am 20 and I did alya two years ago from south France. My dream was…

to give and serve my country, so I decided to do “Sherut Leumi” in Jerusalem, in “Optical Center “, Laurent’s Levy foundation.
The tasks I did as part of my service were very different, from the reception to the “glasses showroom”. Even, when there was a lot of work, I made my practice in the laboratory.
I have to admit I didn’t speak Hebrew so well. But the team encouraged me and took out the fear of me of not understanding and not knowing how to answer. They were always patient and helped me in all the situations.
This service helped me a lot to improve my Hebrew, to be much more responsible, more independent, learn from the science and social, of course to meet every day people from all ethnic groups and religions, ages, and most of all, I learned to appreciate to give.
Optical Center is like a second family to me. I met amazing people who became my best friends.
I am proud that I served my country in this way.
To help needy people and to see them going out from the foundation with the ability to see or hear don’t have any price!
I sincerely thank my managers who believed in me until the end of the road, for the beautiful moments I will never forget and the constant encouragement.
I thank also to Laurent Levy who gave me the opportunity to experience this amazing year, full of charity, boundless humility and wholeheartedly, what makes us the chosen people”.

I am 20 years old and I made my alyah two years ago from the south of France. My dream was to give and serve my country, so I decided to do my national service “shirout leumi” in Jerusalem, in the foundation of Laurent levy – optical center.

The stains I did in my service were very different from the reception at the glasses showroom. And when there was a lot of work, I even went to the lab.

I must admit that I did not know very well how to speak Hebrew. But the team encouraged me and took away the fear of not understanding or not knowing how to respond. They have always been very patient and have helped me in all situations.

The service helped me a lot to improve my Hebrew, to be more responsible, more independent, to learn the sciences and humanity. It also made me meet mainly every day people of any ethnic group, religion and ages. But most importantly, I have learned to love and give.

Optical center is like a second family for me. I met exceptional people who became my best friends.
I am proud to have served my country in this way.

Helping the needy and seeing them out of the foundation with the possibility of seeing or hearing has no price. I really thank my managers who have believed in me to the end, for the wonderful moments I will never forget and the constant encouragement.

I also thank Laurent levy, who gave me the opportunity to experience this experience. A magical year full of charity, unbounded humility and wholeheartedness, which makes us be the chosen people.
